Conceived by Ewan Macdonald and his father Murdo, the project connects family history with the islands’ threatened wildlife. Fiddle, cello, concertina, banjo and harmonium sit among recordings of wind, waves and birds.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eNo synthesizers were used. Instead, the group worked with processed field and hydrophone recordings, alongside drones derived from the composition of rock and bone samples. Those sounds give the traditional instruments an unfamiliar setting without losing their physical character.
