Hotmood - Discoweey Hits Vol 1
LABEL: DiscoweeyAfter operating as a digital-only imprint for some time, Hotmood's Discoweey label finally makes its vinyl bow - fittingly with a selection of the Mexican producer's most-loved re-edits of recent years. Often reworking lesser-known disco cuts, the edits on show are well crafted and only lightly tooled up for 21st century dancefloors.
He begins by delivering a freshly extended version of 'Ya Ta Olvide', a horn-heavy Spanish language disco workout that's as infectious and insatiable as it is heavy and funky, before slamming down the sweat-soaked, percussion-rich disco-not-disco of 'DDD'.
'Funk Party' is a loopy and energetic disco-house jam that utilises elements of several disco and boogie era jams (including one by Positive Force), while 'D.R.E.A.M.I.N.G' sticks a rocket up a boogie-era independent disco classic - with predictably peak-time-ready results.
