Cowboy Rhythmbox / Josh Caffe - Rock Music

Erol Alkan brings two Phantasy recordings to vinyl for the sixth instalment of his Reworks series. Cowboy Rhythmbox’s Rock Music, from the partnership of Nathan Gregory Wilkins and Richard X, began as a demo before Alkan rebuilt its sampled fragments into an electro rework. On the reverse, Josh Caffé’s You takes a different route: the track, originally produced with Paranoid London’s Quinn Whalley, becomes a spacious, drum-led house arrangement that keeps Caffé’s vocal in focus. The two sides connect Alkan’s approaches to electro and Chicago-influenced house, presenting contrasting reworks from within the label’s catalogue.
