About this release
The Return Of The Durutti Column introduced Vini Reilly's distinctive guitar language in 1980: delicate melodic figures, spacious arrangements and a quiet emotional pull. Martin Hannett's production gives the music room to breathe, from the gently rolling Sketch For Summer to the spare beauty of Sketch For Winter. It remains a singular meeting of post-punk experimentation and ambient listening.
This 45th anniversary vinyl edition on London Records is remastered from the original source tapes and cut at half speed. The standard Dufy artwork is presented on textured card, with an inner sleeve essay by James Nice. The twelve-track programme also includes Lips That Would Kiss and Madeleine.
