About this release
Maceo Plex and Jon Dasilva revisit an unreleased early-1990s remix for Love Somebody Else, rebuilding the music and recording new vocals with Joi Cardwell. Its starting point was Dasilva’s version of Colourblind’s cover of the Jones Girls’ You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else. On the reverse, Maceo Plex works alone on Future Musik, a tribute to an unreleased piece by Closer Musik. Layers of pads and relaxed hi-hats give way to a stronger bassline and Plex’s vocals. The pairing connects two sources from different eras through newly played arrangements and a shared deep house sensibility.
