About this release
Music For Existing opens Martyn's electronic production to a wider group of players, bringing live instrumentation and improvisational detail into his rhythmic language. Duval Timothy contributes keys, Lucinda Chua adds cello, and Mark Cisneros appears on saxophone, alongside drums from Mischa Porte and trumpet from Cees Bruinsma. Danny Voicu supplies further instrumental parts, while Musa Okwonga contributes words to Musa At Erbil. The album connects those performances through a spacious, jazz-informed approach, placing musical conversation at the centre of the recording. Issued on Martyn's 3024 imprint, the double-vinyl edition is mastered by Bob Macc and features artwork by Jeroen Erosie.
