About this release
Morgan Buckley and Ben Donohoe's Sworx builds a strange electronic world around a fictional, all-knowing dial-up modem. Coded waveforms, surveillance and a secret filing system provide the backdrop to twelve tracks of tangled rhythms and offbeat humour. The music moves through mutant electro and IDM, with detuned melodic figures and sounds that shift between playful and uneasy. “The System Works” pairs an electro pulse with synthetic voices, while “breathwx (half_life)” opens into more suspended textures. Released on Wah Wah Wino, the album lets its surreal premise run through the music as well as its cryptic track names.
