About this release
Jungle’s fourth album Volcano combines soul, disco and funk with electronic pop production, widening the range of voices in the group’s arrangements. Written largely on tour, recording began during a stay in Los Angeles before the album was completed at Metropolis Studios in London. Erick the Architect, Channel Tres, Roots Manuva, Mood Talk, JNR Williams and Bas feature across the record, alongside Back On 74 and the vocal harmonies running through the album. The collaborations move from rap-led passages to more melodic exchanges, keeping Jungle’s rhythm-focused songwriting at the centre of the fourteen-track set.
