About this release
Raw Grooves marks Kerri Chandler’s first release for Large Music, originally issued in 1995. Its four tracks take a darker, more minimal approach than much of his work of the period, with firm basslines, jazz-inflected chords and chopped vocal phrases forming the core of the sound. Simply titled One, Two, Three and Four, the programme puts its emphasis on groove and texture rather than elaborate track names. This 12-inch reissue brings all four cuts back together, preserving the A-side and B-side sequence of a record that helped establish Large’s late-1990s direction.
