About this release
Blue Lines is Massive Attack’s 1991 debut, bringing Bristol’s club culture into contact with American hip hop, soul and dub. The album moves between group vocals and guest performances, with Shara Nelson, Horace Andy and Tricky helping shape its sound. Safe From Harm opens the record, while Unfinished Sympathy places Nelson’s voice at the centre of one of its defining songs. Be Thankful For What You’ve Got and Hymn Of The Big Wheel reveal another side of the group’s approach to song and rhythm. This Virgin edition presents the nine-track album on a single 180g black vinyl LP.
