About this release
Stompa Phunk resident Sound Klash opens the Brighton collective’s relaunched vinyl label with two edits rooted in house and disco-dub techniques. You Had It takes the A-side, with Music Got in dub form on the reverse. Both draw on a hardware-based production approach, combining sampled voices, bass-heavy rhythms and the rough edges of tape-spliced club records. The release connects Stompa Phunk’s long-running parties with Chicago-inspired house, where drum-machine patterns, synthesizers and repeated fragments of sound provide the movement.
