Davina - Don't You Want It

Davina’s ‘Don’t You Want It’ brings a commanding soul vocal to Mad Mike’s Detroit production on Underground Resistance. The record’s history runs through the city’s clubs, with Ken Collier and John Collins among its early supporters, before Laurent Garnier helped carry it to audiences in Paris. The vocal remains at the centre of a track that connects house music with the label’s techno roots.

This 12-inch pairs the extended Club version with the shorter Radio version on the reverse. Both give space to Davina’s delivery, making this a vocal record as much as a DJ staple. Released on Underground Resistance, ‘Don’t You Want It’ captures the meeting of Detroit electronics and soul in a straightforward two-track format.
