About this release
Baby Huey's The Baby Huey Story: The Living Legend brings together heavy funk rhythms, psychedelic soul and a powerful vocal presence. First released in 1971, the album pairs the drive of Listen To Me and Hard Times with a spacious interpretation of A Change Is Going To Come. Curtis Mayfield's production gives these performances a setting that leaves room for both grit and tenderness.
This Strongly Felt vinyl reissue presents twelve tracks, including Mama Get Yourself Together, California Dreamin' and Running. The expanded programme also features One Dragon Two Dragon, You Make Me Feel So Very Happy and Turn On To Me. A rewarding LP for listeners drawn to raw soul singing, extended grooves and the connections between funk and rock.
