About this release
Jack Wilkins' take on Freddie Hubbard's Red Clay brings guitar, bass and drums into a compact jazz-funk arrangement. Recorded for the 1973 album Windows, the performance features Mike Moore on bass and Bill Goodwin on drums and percussion alongside Wilkins' electric and acoustic guitar. The rhythm section gives the melody a strong, open groove, later sampled by A Tribe Called Quest. Supa Dope pairs it with Canzona, another piece from the same album, presenting the two recordings together on a seven-inch. The release is officially licensed and comes in a hand-stamped sleeve.
