About this release
Black Disco’s third album expands Pops Mohamed’s organ-led sound with bassist Peter Odendaal and drummer Monty Weber joining Mohamed and wind player Basil Coetzee. Originally recorded in 1976, it opens with the ten-minute ‘Dawn’, whose flute lines unfold over an unhurried accompaniment. ‘Spiritual Feeling (Riding The Blue)’ revisits material from the group’s debut, while ‘Whiter Shade Of Pale’ sits alongside original compositions. Mohamed also plays guitar, and Weber adds bongos to the rhythm section. This Afrodelic LP reissue is licensed from As-Shams Archive and sourced from the original analogue master tapes, bringing together all seven tracks from the album.
