About this release
Cornell Campbell and Sonia give William DeVaughn's Be Thankful For What You Got two reggae settings on this Backatcha release. Campbell's version first appeared as a D-Roy seven-inch, helping establish the Harlesden label before it became associated with UK lovers rock. An extended discomix followed in 1980. Sonia Ferguson's recording, also from 1980, remained unreleased in the D-Roy tape archive until this pairing. The two full versions now sit back to back, offering distinct vocal approaches to the same song. This twelve-inch programme pairs Campbell with Sonia rather than including the separate vocal-and-dub seven-inch selection.
