About this release
808 State's Ex:el captures the melodic ambition and rhythmic energy of their early-nineties sound. Acid textures, busy percussion and broad synth lines connect club tracks such as Cubik and In Yer Face with the album's vocal collaborations.
Björk appears on Qmart and Ooops, while Bernard Sumner sings on Spanish Heart. This National Album Day 2023 edition presents the thirteen-track album on blue double vinyl, pairing recognisable rave moments with the more exploratory corners of 808 State's electronic music.
