About this release
The Collective [1989–1998] gathers Octave One's early work in a deluxe edition for 430 West. The Burden brothers' machine funk and Detroit techno move between firm dancefloor rhythms and more melodic, reflective passages, with I Believe featuring Lisa Newberry among the selections. Originally issued in 1998, the collection returns with full extended mixes remastered by Edo Pietrogrande and Lenny Burden. Anthony 'Shake' Shakir shares production and mixing credits on I Believe. This edition spreads the programme across four 180g records in a gatefold sleeve, giving the collection room to develop from Dema through to And All That Remains.
