About this release
Stephen Brown’s The Safari EP brings a vocal-led club track together with two deeper cuts for Stepback Records. Test 1 opens the A-side around a prominent vocal hook and a direct rhythmic approach. Move It turns to a raw Chicago-house groove, using off-centre pads, detuned hi-hats and a weighty kick. Tell Him closes the reverse with a more restrained arrangement and a deeper sense of movement. The record connects the Scottish producer’s house and techno work, following a catalogue that includes releases through Transmat, Djax-Up-Beats, Cocoon and Subject Detroit.
