About this release
Stones Taro makes his Instinct debut with four bass-led tracks that draw on breakbeat, speed garage and dub. Wood Box sets pitched-up funk breaks against deep sub-bass, ragga vocal fragments and shifting textures. Extend Ring follows with a rolling bassline and a more direct house pulse. On the reverse, Stucking pares the arrangement down to two-step rhythms, metallic effects and low-end pressure, before Breath Twice combines broken drums and hand percussion with the weight of dubstep. Across the record, compact sound palettes leave the rhythmic changes and bass movement clearly exposed.
