About this release
Tom Carruthers returns as CRUV with a second showcase of club tracks rooted in the house and techno sounds of the late 1980s and early 1990s. CRUV2 moves from warm, rolling grooves and bright synth figures towards slower, darker arrangements, with elements of freestyle electro and Latin house in the mix. Repeated phrases and drum-machine patterns give the record its structure, while more expansive electronic passages open out the later cuts. Issued as a white-label 12-inch, it connects Carruthers’ interest in earlier club production with the direct approach of his own Non Stop Rhythm catalogue.
