Gettoblaster - Acid Ice Cream
LABEL: Aliens On Wax USTen years after making their debut with the TB-303-powered excess of We Jack - The Album on Traxmen, Chicago-Detroit duo Gettoblaster is finally ready to drop album number two. In keeping with their track record of delivering cuts that jack and pop - think twisted, brain-melting acid lines and clanking TR-909 drums - Acid Ice Cream is a purist acid house lover's dream - albeit with the frequent addition of the kind of twisted vocal samples frequently heard on old Dance Mania releases.
Highlights are plentiful, from the breakbeat-driven flutes-and-jack hedonism of 'Watch Out Now' and the ghetto-house thump of DJ Funk hook-up 'Get Dat', to the extended 303-bassline and breathlessly building drums of 'Getto Thang' (with Illyus, Barriento and DJ Deeon), and the futurist, intergalactic excellence of Lauren Flax collaboration 'Freak U'.
