About this release
Some Shit brings together the songs and life experiences of Alberto Mesquita, the Portuguese-born artist who recorded as Al Mati. After leaving Portugal, he travelled through Europe before settling with his family in Amsterdam’s Bijlmermeer, where a home studio became a meeting place for musicians from several countries. His songs move between political frustration, playful observations and messages to his wife and children. Bruno Scoriels’ comic-style cover draws on their shared travels, including a hazardous crossing of the Pyrenees through a railway tunnel. Left Ear’s edition includes a double-sided insert with photographs and liner notes, adding context to Mesquita’s personal, self-directed work.
