Brett Johnson - Broken Machine

Brett Johnson returns to Leeds label 20/20 Vision with Broken Machine, a four-track EP full of the rhythmic playfulness and musical detail that run through his house productions. Disco bass, swinging drums and spacious pads give the record a varied character without losing its connection to the dancefloor.

‘Unstuck’ leads with a shifting bassline, followed by the loose, bumping swing of ‘Juiced’. The title track stretches into a more hypnotic and disorientating space, while ‘iRemember’ brings the record down gently with luminous pads and a slower groove. Across both sides, Johnson balances club function with the small melodic and rhythmic surprises that reward repeat listening.
