About this release
Amazonas finds vibraphonist Cal Tjader exploring Brazilian jazz fusion, with production by Airto Moreira and arrangements by George Duke. Guest performances from Hermeto Pascoal, David Amaro and Raul de Souza connect the album's Californian setting with Brazilian musical influences. The eight-track programme moves from the title piece and 'Xibaba' through 'Mindoro' and 'Flying', before closing with 'Cahuenga'. This Jazz Dispensary Top Shelf reissue was cut from the original analogue tapes using an all-analogue chain by Kevin Gray. Pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, the single LP comes in a tip-on jacket, with four tracks on each side.
