About this release
Chewy Rubs draws on different generations of club music for the Warehouse EP on Wax Digits Music. Another opens with old-school stabs and nineties-style vocals, while Freestyle shifts towards a body-popping rhythm and vocoder-led eighties feel. Mobbed brings a more tense, stripped-back tech house groove to the reverse, before Underground turns towards larger breaks and busier percussion. The changes in rhythm give the record its range, connecting house familiarity with electro-funk detail and breakbeat movement. Across the four tracks, the emphasis stays on direct drums, clear hooks and the interplay between older club sounds and contemporary production.
