About this release
Courtney Bailey’s debut album on Second Circle builds an intimate electronic world from digital synthesizer pads, Fairlight-like stabs and acid basslines. Soft spoken vocals and melodic phrases guide the music between the more relaxed feel of ‘Burnt Moon’ and the dancefloor lean of ‘Like A Heaven’. Listening to Dream Dolphin’s music provided an early spark, while time spent outdoors in Australia shaped the record’s sense of wonder. ‘Kodou’ draws on a scene of colourful parrots in a flowering Melbourne tree; ‘Burnt Moon’ reflects moonlight on water. Michael Willis provides the sleeve art and design for this eight-track album.
