About this release
Dave Lee brings a local perspective to the garage-house sound on The Garage Sound Of Deepest Crouch End. Testamized's Everybody Needs Somebody opens with Rance's gospel vocal and keyboard work from Matt Cooper, set against Lee's swinging drums. Dave Under's Hillman Avenger alias follows with Every Second Every Minute Every Hour, moving towards jazz-funk piano, brass and synthesizer. Prospect Park's Our Love updates a Republic Records recording featuring AJ Lewis, before Hillman Avenger returns with Lifford on No Excuses. The four tracks connect vocal performance and detailed musicianship with the soulful house language associated with Lee's earlier garage compilations.
