About this release
The Landlord – Vinyl Cuts draws six De Mthuda tracks from the producer’s 2021–2023 period, remastered for this Samp Records release. Log drums, offbeat bass rhythms and vocal performances place the selection firmly within amapiano. Sino Msolo and Da Muziqal Chef feature on ‘Jola’, while Sir Trill joins ‘John Wick’ and Sipho Magudulela appears on ‘Squdi Snyc’. ‘Emlanjeni’, ‘Maplankeng’ and ‘iThuba’ complete the programme, bringing further collaborations into a compact overview of the era. The record focuses on the rhythmic flow and bass movement of the material, presenting these tracks together as a vinyl selection.
