About this release
Jolene brings together two of Dolly Parton’s best-known songs: the urgent title track and the original ‘I Will Always Love You’. First released in 1974, the album places those landmarks within a ten-song set whose direct storytelling and unmistakable voice remain its strongest draw.
Parton wrote eight of the ten songs. Where the title track follows a woman's fear of losing her partner, ‘I Will Always Love You’ marked Parton's professional parting from Porter Wagoner. His composition ‘Lonely Comin’ Down’ also appears here. This single-LP reissue preserves the original album sequence.
