Eddie Cheeba / B-Boys / Maximus Three / Dave Lee - Back To The Old School Part III

Dave ‘Love’ Lee revisits the meeting point of disco, funk and early rap on the third instalment of Z Records’ Back To The Old School series. This four-track 12-inch brings together Eddie Cheeba, B-Boys and Maximus Three, with Lee’s mixes giving their vocals fresh room over bass-heavy, dancefloor-focused arrangements.

Eddie Cheeba’s ‘Lookin’ Good’ opens in the Smelling Great Mix, driven by clipped clavinet and synth accents. B-Boys’ ‘Rock The House’ appears twice: the Magic Funk Mix leans into breakbeats, while the Roller Rink Mix settles into a mid-tempo groove. Maximus Three’s ‘Maximus Party’ completes the set in the Maximus Boogie Mix, pairing fluid bass and squelching synths with TJ Swann and Pee Wee Mel’s raps.
