About this release
Manchester duo Elf Traps bring live drums, keyboards and electronic textures together on their self-titled debut. Rob Turner and Liviu Gheorghe build eight instrumental pieces around shifting rhythms and melodic improvisation, with analogue synths and robotic percussion extending the sound of their acoustic instruments.
Mixed by Jim Spencer, the album moves between contemporary jazz and leftfield electronica. Tracks including Metrognome, MikaMikaMika and U Bring Me Peace show the range of a partnership that treats the studio and the live room as connected spaces.
