About this release
Here Because Of Hope follows the movement of Black music and people through Africa, the Caribbean and London, organised across three connected sections. Ezra Collective build the album around the relationship between difficult histories and joyful music, with hope linking its themes and performances. The band's jazz language opens out through collaborations with Pa Salieu, Lila Iké, Leona Lewis and Libianca, while spoken passages read by Letitia Wright frame the programme. The record brings those voices into the group's rhythmic, celebratory approach, keeping a sense of shared memory at its centre. This edition pairs transparent ocean-blue double vinyl with a gatefold sleeve and printed inners.
