Fela Kuti & Roy Ayers - Music Of Many Colours

Music Of Many Colours captures the meeting of Fela Kuti's Afrobeat and Roy Ayers' jazz-funk. Their friendship developed around Ayers' Nigerian tour, and the resulting 1980 album gives each side of the collaboration room to unfold across a full side of vinyl.

'2000 Blacks Got To Be Free' carries Ayers' vision of an Africa free from colonial influence, while 'Africa - Centre Of The World' brings his vibraphone into the flow of Fela's ensemble. The long arrangements make space for the players and the insistent rhythm without rushing either. This Knitting Factory Records reissue presents the remastered album on black vinyl.
