About this release
Curated by Pol Valls, Selected Works 1985–2005 draws from Gabrielle Roth & The Mirrors’ percussion-led recordings for dance and movement. Roth’s 5Rhythms practice provided the setting, with Robert Ansell’s drums forming a foundation for a changing group of musicians. Improvised performances bring together acoustic percussion, voices, strings and electronic textures, moving between intimate atmosphere and heavier rhythmic passages. The selection reaches from ‘Eliana’ and ‘Totem’ to ‘Stefania’s Song’, showing the range of music released through Raven Recording. This TIME010R repress is dedicated to co-producer Robert Ansell and includes expanded four-page liner notes exploring Roth’s work and the Mirrors’ history.
