About this release
Woman’s Colours brings together flautist and saxophonist Giancarlo Barigozzi, pianist Oscar Rocchi and guitarist Sergio Farina as The Barigozzi Group. Originally released on Fonovideo in 1974 under Fabio Fabor’s artistic supervision, the album builds a connected series of pieces around colours and the human form. Jazz-funk and jazz-rock mingle with bossa nova and exotica, carried by driving basslines, fuzz guitar, electric keyboards and expressive flute. The trio’s background in Milan’s session scene gives the arrangements a poised, cohesive feel, moving between lounge textures and more insistent grooves. Four Flies’ reissue presents this Italian library recording in a hard tip-on sleeve with a printed inner.
