About this release
Falling Backwards brings together singer-songwriter Olly Him and producer, DJ and composer Wyndham Earl for a debut rooted in desert blues, English folk, Americana and southern soul. The pair first worked together through Creatures Of The Deep before reconnecting to develop this album, with Him writing the songs and Earl arranging and producing them. Their sound reaches into psychedelia and progressive textures while keeping a warm, acoustic centre. Finger-picked guitar, piano and strings give the title track an expansive shape, reflecting writing about the uneasy balance between everyday stability and the possibility of chaos. The wider set carries that mixture of earthiness and emotional openness.
