About this release
Idris Muhammad's 1974 album Power Of Soul returns as a limited, individually numbered edition on 180g white vinyl. The legendary New Orleans drummer leads an exceptional ensemble featuring Bob James, Grover Washington Jr., Joe Beck, Randy Brecker and Ralph MacDonald.
Produced by Creed Taylor and engineered by Rudy Van Gelder, the record moves between muscular jazz-funk, deep soul-jazz and expansive CTI arrangements. Across Power Of Soul, Piece Of Mind, The Saddest Thing and Loran's Dance, Muhammad's commanding groove remains at the centre.
