About this release
Jack Tennis returns to Art Groupie with a selection that moves from warm, string-led disco to a more percussive electronic close. The alias of Berlin producer Tobi Schwermann, Tennis brings Philly-style strings, guitar and rounded mid-tempo rhythms to the opening cut. The mood then shifts towards grittier soul and deeper bass before a brighter, exuberant turn on the second side. Latin vocals, whistles and organic percussion give the closing track a different rhythmic character, connecting its electronic pulse with looser textures. Across the record, melodic detail and changes of atmosphere keep the grooves varied while retaining a clear dancefloor focus.
