About this release
Jimetta Rose leads the Los Angeles community choir The Voices of Creation through gospel, soul and club-inspired rhythms on Things Are Getting Better. Produced with Jack Maeby and Allakoi Peete, the album features saxophonist Isaiah Collier, trombonist Ryan Porter and violinist V.C.R., expanding the choir’s sound with detailed instrumental arrangements. ‘Portals’ opens on a shuffling groove, while ‘Everyday Blessings’ connects devotional singing with a house pulse. The closing ‘Everywhere I Look’ draws on the spirit of Pharoah Sanders’ ‘Love Is Everywhere’. Recorded at Sunset Sound and Nothing 2 See Hear Studios, the album was mixed by Ben Baptie and mastered and cut by Martijn Schouten.
