About this release
Originally released by R&S Records in 1995, Jelly Tones brings Ken Ishii’s Detroit techno influences into a distinctive world of detailed drum programming and clear, layered synthesisers. Extra opens the album, followed by the melodic textures of Cocoa Mousse and the rhythmic drive of Stretch. Pause In Herbs and Moved By Air explore more intricate arrangements before Frame Out and Endless Season complete the sequence. The 30th-anniversary reissue presents the eight-track vinyl programme across two records. Its combination of dancefloor momentum and careful sound design remains central to Ishii’s approach throughout.
