About this release
Leftism moves through dub, house, techno and slower electronic passages in a sequence designed to work as an album. Neil Barnes and Paul Daley’s 1995 debut draws together new material and reworked versions of earlier Leftfield singles, with guest voices adding distinct characters along the way. Release The Pressure opens the record before Afro-Left and Melt, while Song Of Life and Original develop different sides of the duo’s sound. Space Shanty and Storm 3000 give the rhythms greater force, and Open Up brings John Lydon into the final side. The closing 21st Century Poem provides a quieter change of perspective.
