Manami - Treading Dub

Tokyo-born, Bristol-based producer and pianist Manami joins Beatrice M.’s Bait label with Treading Dub, a four-track EP that moves between suspended ambience and forceful club rhythms. Rather than settling into one tempo or mood, the record uses texture and low-end weight to connect its contrasting sides.

‘Unsaid’ opens in a haze of crackle and broad synth tones before the title track introduces urgent bass pressure and rattling dub-techno chords. Eklipse brings a spoken-word presence to the submerged atmosphere of ‘Moonlight’, while ‘Loosen’ closes with a faster techno rhythm and restless percussion. It’s a varied 12-inch that gives the quieter details as much space as the drums.
