About this release
Mark Ambrose and Serious Cut bring electro and deep house together on Star System, released through Ambrose’s Crayon Records. Reflections opens with sustained chords, clipped machine rhythms and a Mini Moog bassline, setting a reflective mood for the EP. The title track keeps the focus on shimmering harmonies and carefully placed electro drums. Space Time occupies the reverse, shifting towards a looser house rhythm with broad pads and a lighter feel. Across the three tracks, the release connects Ambrose’s Chicago and Detroit reference points with spacious arrangements and an emphasis on melodic detail.
