About this release
Masahiro Sugaya’s Music From Alejo was composed for Pappa TARAHUMARA, the performing arts company founded by Hiroshi Koike. Recorded in 1987, it uses synthesizers, repetition and carefully placed silence to accompany a stage language combining movement, theatre and visual art. Pieces such as ‘Straight Line Floating in the Sky’ and ‘Alejo’s Theme’ develop through delicate melodic gestures and sustained atmosphere, linking Sugaya’s electronic work with the pacing of performance. For this Ambient Sans edition, he prepared the music from the original DAT tapes for vinyl. The record includes an obi strip and an insert featuring an interview and photographs.
