Miles - Vault

Miles returns to Short Span with Vault, a six-track LP rooted in the dub experiments that begin his recording sessions. Known for his work with Demdike Stare and Pendle Coven, he traces that practice back to an early attempt to recreate Basic Channel's Phylyps Trak using a Korg X3 and an Ibanez effects unit.

Delay, saturation and the noise of the machines became tools to explore in their own right. Vault follows that interest across “Birth Of A Friend”, “Homage” and “Channelled Aggression”, with “Swift Shift”, “Tractive” and “Motive” on the reverse. The source notes describe these sessions as both a warm-up and a way of moving ideas forward. A record to investigate if the hands-on, exploratory side of dub techno is your thing.
