About this release
Ralo returns to Soul Service with Broken Way, pairing two original tracks with remixes by Gledd and Monsieur Van Pratt. The title track works around a relaxed bassline and kick pattern, with organic percussion and soft synths filling out the rhythm. Djembe brings horns into the foreground, adding a brighter jazz and soul inflection to its low-slung drums. Gledd reworks Broken Way on the reverse, followed by Monsieur Van Pratt's take on Djembe. The two originals establish the record's loose, funk-led feel, while the remixes give each track a more direct club arrangement without losing that rhythmic character.
