About this release
Guitarist Raoul Björkenheim and drummer Paal Nilssen-Love reunite for PING, a nine-piece set recorded in Helsinki. Their long history together, including Scorch Trio, gives the duo room to push freely between dense exchanges and more restrained playing.
Released on We Jazz, the album explores the range of a guitar-and-drums pairing through open improvisation, shifting rhythms and sharply contrasting textures.
