About this release
Richie Hawtin revisits Do Da Doo under his Robotman alias, with newly recorded vocals by Marshall Jefferson. Definitive Recordings pairs Plastikman’s Acid House Mix with remixes by Jamie Jones and DJ Minx, bringing three distinct arrangements of the track together on one twelve-inch.
Plastikman’s nearly twelve-minute version builds on 909 drums and a shifting 303 bassline. Jamie Jones introduces a bouncing low end, sharp synth lines and funkier drum patterns. DJ Minx takes a deeper route, using swung percussion, fragments of Jefferson’s vocal and chords to create a more restrained interpretation.
