About this release
Recorded in Tokyo in 2023, Fukushima brings together five original compositions by saxophonist Sinsuke Fujieda and his group. Fumiko Takeshita’s violin joins Fujieda’s saxophone at the heart of the ensemble, giving this Japanese modal and spiritual jazz album a distinctive instrumental pairing.
Released on vinyl by Superfly Records, the album moves from the title track and “Float In Oriental Spring” through “Silent Night” and “Nobody Knows” to the closing “Perspective”. A thoughtful choice for listeners exploring contemporary Japanese jazz and the enduring appeal of modal playing.
